Ayurveda and Panchakarma
About this area of care
Individual nutrition, body treatments and recovery in the Ayurvedic tradition
Sometimes you want to reduce your usual demands for a while and focus on what everyday life pushes aside: nutrition, rest and your own wellbeing. Panchakarma at CALENDULA offers a structured Ayurvedic approach with preparation, individually selected treatments and a recovery stage.
In the traditional system, the concepts of Agni and Ama describe the state of digestion and metabolism. They help explain the Ayurvedic logic behind nutrition and treatments but do not replace medical diagnostics. Cleansing is used here in its traditional sense, without promises to remove unspecified toxins or cure chronic conditions.
An Ayurvedic consultation is combined with medical assessment, while oils and herbal formulations from CALENDULA’s own laboratory are selected according to tolerance. Depending on your condition and goals, you may choose a light or traditional version. These are different formats, not mandatory stages of one course.
Who this care is for
- For accumulated strain and a wish to devote time to rest and body practices.
- For fatigue and tension after excluding causes that require other treatment.
- For those wishing to reconsider eating habits and daily routines with specialist support.
- For people interested in the Ayurvedic approach whose condition permits the chosen treatments.
Medical assessment and strategy
Medical consultation. Symptoms, chronic conditions, medicines and supplements, and tolerance of herbal ingredients, oils and heat are reviewed. Tests are prescribed where necessary.
Ayurvedic assessment. Constitutional characteristics and current condition help guide the selection of nutrition, oils and supportive practices. Medical contraindications are considered in every course format.
Selecting a format. The light programme focuses on external treatments and rest. The traditional version involves a more detailed assessment of the suitability of internal methods, preparation and recovery time.
The programme is agreed after the initial examination, considering indications, contraindications and current medicines. Pregnancy, acute illnesses, exacerbations and marked exhaustion require another care pathway. Prescribed medicines must not be stopped independently.
Course goals and final consultation
Assess wellbeing, rest and tolerance of nutrition and the selected treatments. You receive recommendations that can fit into everyday life: a suitable diet, sleep routine and accessible body and breathing practices. If a chronic condition is present, further medical follow-up continues according to the main plan.

Traditional Panchakarma at CALENDULA
Fundamental therapeutic cleansing at a cellular level · 10–14 days
Sometimes simple rest or a diet is not enough for the body. When the effects of chronic stress, inflammation and metabolic disturbances accumulate, tissues need a deep physiological reset.
True health and bodily purity are impossible without systematic release from toxins and products of disturbed metabolism. Traditional Panchakarma is a medical pathway tested over millennia, allowing the underlying causes of disorders to be reached, organ reserves to be restored and self-regulation to restart.
At CALENDULA clinic (Siófok, Lake Balaton), we carry out classical Panchakarma as it is intended to work: with uncompromising adherence to Ayurvedic methodology, under strict modern medical supervision and using preparations from our own herbal laboratory.
Why traditional Panchakarma?
Most modern detox programmes are limited to superficial drainage and light dietary relief. Traditional Panchakarma works in a fundamentally different way:
Tissue oiling and warming (Snehana & Swedana): bind and move toxins from deep structures, muscles and intercellular spaces into the digestive tract.
Targeted elimination (Pradhana Karma): physiological and complete removal of accumulated material from the body through natural pathways.
Safe recovery (Paschat Karma): a gradual restart of metabolism and digestive fire without stressing the organs.
Without these stages, cleansing the body at tissue level is physiologically impossible.
Who needs this programme
The programme is intended for patients with a genuine therapeutic goal:
Metabolism and digestion: irritable bowel syndrome, heaviness, bloating, insulin resistance and excess weight.
Skin and inflammation: eczema, psoriasis outside a flare-up, allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis.
Musculoskeletal system: stiffness, osteoarthritis and chronic joint and muscle pain.
Nervous system: emotional burnout, insomnia, brain fog, autonomic instability and the effects of prolonged stress.
Medical assessment and strategy
We do not compromise between ancient wisdom and clinical safety:
Dual medical supervision: an Ayurvedic doctor and a Western medicine doctor jointly oversee your condition, with laboratory monitoring.
Our own herbal laboratory: oils, decoctions and treatment formulations (Virechana, Basti, Nasya) are made individually according to your metabolism and pulse diagnosis, rather than chosen from a standard range.
Integration with TCM and balneology: acupuncture and restorative water protocols are added where necessary.
An ideal setting: the clinic is peacefully located on the shore of Lake Balaton — tranquillity and clean air are integral parts of the therapeutic protocol.
Stages of a self-contained course
Preparation (3–5 days): internal and external oil treatments, herbal steam rooms, gentle warm food and relief from external information-related stress.
Cleansing (3–7 days): elimination procedures prescribed individually by a doctor (Virechana intestinal cleansing, therapeutic oil and herbal Basti micro-enemas, and Nasya nasal therapy).
Regeneration (2–4 days): gradual dietary restoration, strengthening herbal elixirs (Rasayanas), follow-up diagnostics and a personalised health plan for home.
Course goals and final consultation
- Lightness throughout the body and sustained energy instead of chronic fatigue.
- Clear, radiant skin and fewer allergic reactions.
- Healthy, regular digestion and natural weight loss.
- Deep sleep, mental clarity and emotional stability.
