About this service

Individual nutrition, bodywork and recovery in the Ayurvedic tradition

Sometimes it helps to reduce the usual pace for a while and give attention to what is often postponed in everyday life: nutrition, rest and your own wellbeing. Panchakarma at CALENDULA offers a structured Ayurvedic approach with preparation, individually selected procedures and a recovery stage.

In the traditional system, the concepts of Agni and Ama describe digestion and metabolism. They help explain the Ayurvedic logic of nutrition and procedures but do not replace medical diagnostics. “Cleansing” is used here in its traditional sense, without promises to remove undefined toxins or cure chronic disease.

An Ayurvedic consultation is combined with medical assessment, while oils and herbal formulas from CALENDULA’s own laboratory are selected with tolerance in mind. Depending on your condition and goal, you can choose a gentle or traditional format. These are different formats, not mandatory stages of one course.

Who this service is for

  • For accumulated strain and a desire to devote time to rest and body practices.
  • For fatigue and tension after causes requiring other treatment have been excluded.
  • For those who want to review eating habits and daily routine with professional support.
  • For people interested in an Ayurvedic approach where their condition allows the selected procedures.

Medical assessment and strategy

Medical consultation. Complaints, chronic conditions, medicines and supplements, and tolerance of plant ingredients, oils and heat are reviewed. Investigations are prescribed where necessary.

Ayurvedic assessment. Constitutional characteristics and the current state help guide the choice of nutrition, oils and supportive practices. Medical contraindications are taken into account in every format.

Choosing the format. The gentle programme focuses on external procedures and rest. The traditional format includes a more detailed assessment of the suitability of internal methods, preparation and recovery time.

The content is agreed after the initial examination, taking into account indications, contraindications and current medications. Pregnancy, acute illness, flare-ups and marked exhaustion require a different care pathway. Prescribed medicines should not be stopped without medical advice.

Programme goals and final consultation

To assess wellbeing, rest, tolerance of nutrition and the selected procedures. You receive recommendations that can be incorporated into everyday life: a suitable diet, sleep routine and accessible body and breathing practices. Where a chronic condition is present, further medical follow-up continues according to the main treatment plan.

Gentle Panchakarma at CALENDULA

A gentle reset, rest and renewed energy · 5–7 days

Sometimes the body needs not therapy but the chance to exhale. To slow down, release accumulated fatigue and step away from constant stress, screens and dietary overload.

Gentle Panchakarma is an ideal pause for those who are generally healthy but feel emotionally burnt out, depleted and heavy. There are no rigid medical protocols, fasting or aggressive interventions. It is a comfortable preventive programme designed to create ideal conditions for the body to gently clear what is unnecessary and for the nervous system to settle into deep rest.

Who the programme is for

  • It is designed for you if you want to:
  • Reduce stress and burnout: relieve insomnia, anxiety and chronic fatigue.
  • Ease the burden on digestion: reduce heaviness, bloating and sugar cravings without feeling hungry.
  • Restore freshness and tone: reduce morning puffiness, refresh the complexion and feel lighter throughout the body.
  • Spend time in quiet: devote a few days to yourself in a calm setting by the water, away from routine and rush.

Medical assessment and strategy

Even in a restorative retreat format, we maintain the high standards of integrative medicine developed over 30 years of experience:

Medical safety: the programme begins with a brief consultation with a doctor and an Ayurvedic specialist so that procedures can be adapted to your body.

CALENDULA herbal laboratory: all therapeutic massage oils and herbal teas are prepared individually for you rather than taken from mass-market shelves.

Gentle Eastern practices: relaxing acupuncture, breathing techniques and adapted yoga are added where indicated.

Lake Balaton setting: the clinic in Siófok is surrounded by quiet and nature, which in itself relieves up to half of accumulated tension.

What the programme includes

Deep relaxation and oiling

Abhyanga — a harmonising full-body oil massage with warm plant-based preparations.

Shirodhara — a continuous flow of warm oil onto the forehead (the “third eye” point): the world’s best procedure for deep sleep and a mental reset.

Udvartana — massage with natural herbal powders to improve lymphatic flow and skin firmness.

Swedana — gentle warming with herbal steam, helping the body gently remove excess fluid.

Physiological rest for the digestive system

Tasty, light and warm Ayurvedic food (khichari, vegetables, spices) that nourishes while giving the digestive system complete rest.

A gradual conclusion to the course and personalised recommendations

Individual recommendations on nutrition, daily routine and herbal blends to help preserve the feeling of lightness at home.

Programme goals and final consultation

  • Deep, restorative sleep and a clear head.
  • A tangible sense of lightness in the body and disappearance of swelling.
  • Radiant skin and a rested, fresh appearance.
  • A complete reset of eating habits without forcing yourself.
  • Most importantly, a genuine return of energy, strength and enjoyment of life.

Give yourself the break you deserve

This retreat format is available with accommodation at the clinic or on an outpatient basis. Come on your own or with someone close to you — the programme is tailored individually for each person.

Traditional Panchakarma at CALENDULA

Fundamental therapeutic cleansing at cellular level · 10–14 days

Sometimes the body needs more than simple rest or a diet. When the effects of chronic stress, inflammation and metabolic disruption accumulate, the tissues require a deep physiological reset.

True health and bodily purity are impossible without systematic release of toxins and products of impaired metabolism. Traditional Panchakarma is a medical path tested over thousands of years, allowing work at the root cause of disorders, restoration of the organs’ functional capacity and a restart of self-regulation.

At CALENDULA Clinic (Siófok, Lake Balaton), we provide classic Panchakarma as it is intended to work: with uncompromising adherence to Ayurvedic methodology, under strict medical supervision using modern medicine and with preparations from our own herbal laboratory.

Why traditional Panchakarma?

Most modern detox programmes are limited to superficial drainage and light dietary restriction. Traditional Panchakarma works in a fundamentally different way:

Tissue oiling and warming (Snehana & Swedana): bind and move toxins from deep structures, muscles and the intercellular space into the digestive tract.

Targeted elimination (Pradhana Karma): physiological and complete removal of accumulated material from the body through natural pathways.

Safe recovery (Paschat Karma): gradual activation of a renewed metabolism and digestive fire without stress on the organs.

Without these stages, physiological cleansing of the body at tissue level is impossible.

Who needs the programme

The programme is designed for patients with a genuine therapeutic goal:

Metabolism and gastrointestinal tract: irritable bowel syndrome, heaviness, bloating, insulin resistance and excess weight.

Skin and inflammation: eczema, psoriasis outside a flare-up, allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis.

Musculoskeletal system: stiffness, osteoarthritis and chronic joint and muscle pain.

Nervous system: emotional burnout, insomnia, “brain fog”, autonomic instability and the effects of prolonged stress.

Medical assessment and strategy

We do not compromise between ancient wisdom and clinical safety:

Dual medical supervision: your condition is managed jointly by an Ayurvedic doctor and a Western-trained physician with laboratory monitoring.

Our own herbal laboratory: oils, decoctions and preparations for procedures (Virechana, Basti, Nasya) are created individually according to your metabolism and pulse diagnosis rather than taken from a standard shelf.

Integration with TCM and balneology: acupuncture and restorative water-based protocols are added where needed.

Ideal environment: the clinic is located in a quiet setting on the shore of Lake Balaton — peace and clean air are an integral part of the therapeutic protocol.

Stages of the stand-alone course

Preparation (3–5 days): oil saturation (internal and external), herbal steam treatments, gentle warm nutrition and reduction of stress caused by external information overload.

Cleansing (3–7 days): elimination procedures individually prescribed by the doctor (intestinal cleansing with Virechana, therapeutic oil and herbal micro-enemas with Basti, and nasal therapy with Nasya).

Regeneration (2–4 days): gradual restoration of the diet, strengthening herbal elixirs (Rasayana), follow-up diagnostics and a personalised health plan for home.

Programme goals and final consultation

  • Lightness throughout the body and sustained energy instead of chronic fatigue.
  • Clear, radiant skin and a reduction in allergic reactions.
  • Healthy, regular digestion and natural weight loss.
  • Deep sleep, mental clarity and emotional stability.
