About this service
Managing vascular risks and supporting everyday activity
Atherosclerosis can develop for a long time without noticeable symptoms. It affects arteries in different parts of the body, so assessment is not limited to the heart: the doctor also considers the blood vessels of the brain, kidneys and lower limbs.
Manifestations depend on which vessels are affected and how much blood flow is impaired:
Brain: vascular disease can be associated with memory and attention problems. Such complaints require assessment of possible causes and do not allow a person to diagnose atherosclerosis or Alzheimer’s disease on their own.
Kidneys: disease of the renal arteries may lead to impaired kidney function and difficulty controlling blood pressure.
Everyday wellbeing: vascular disorders may affect walking tolerance and contribute to erectile dysfunction. Dry skin, fatigue and other non-specific complaints do not by themselves establish a vascular cause.
At CALENDULA Clinic, atherosclerosis is viewed as a multifactorial process involving the lipid profile, chronic vascular inflammation, carbohydrate metabolism and lifestyle. The integrative approach combines modern evidence-based medicine, Ayurvedic therapy, nutritional medicine and body practices in a unified strategy to slow vascular ageing.
Who this service is for
- For confirmed atherosclerosis at any site (coronary or brachiocephalic arteries, renal vessels or lower-limb vessels).
- For dyslipidaemia combined with hypertension, metabolic syndrome or diabetes.
- For reduced exercise tolerance or other complaints when the doctor suspects a vascular cause and recommends assessment.
- For those seeking a safe, personalised prevention pathway and lifestyle plan alongside essential therapy.
Medical assessment and strategy
Initial consultation: review of previous illnesses, family history, vascular health, blood pressure and current medications.
Laboratory tests and diagnostic assessment: lipid profile (cholesterol fractions, atherogenicity), markers of systemic inflammation (hs-CRP), carbohydrate metabolism and kidney function (creatinine, eGFR — estimated glomerular filtration rate, an indicator of how well the kidneys filter the blood).
Personal treatment targets: the doctor determines target blood pressure and lipid levels. Essential therapy is maintained or adjusted according to risk and tolerance.
Preventive pathway: development of a long-term plan to protect target organs through lifestyle, physical activity and metabolic management.
Individual programme
Duration is selected individually according to the goals of assessment and recovery.
Medication treatment: selection and monitoring of necessary medicines to lower lipids and blood pressure. Antithrombotic and other medicines are used only for appropriate indications. The doctor assesses tolerance, dosages and possible interactions.
Medical support: monitoring of blood pressure, laboratory indicators, wellbeing and tolerance of prescribed measures.
Nutrition: a personalised diet addressing lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. Food preferences and Ayurvedic assessment are taken into account where they are compatible with medical recommendations.
CALENDULA phytotherapy: individual plant-based formulations may be discussed as an addition to essential treatment after compatibility with medicines is checked. The doctor explains the possibilities and limitations of the specific formulation.
Bodywork: suitable lymphatic drainage, Snehana oil treatments and gentle Svedana warming are considered for relaxation and recovery. Load and heat exposure are coordinated with cardiovascular health.
Additional methods: reflexotherapy and balneotherapy, including Zalmanov baths, are considered individually after contraindications are assessed.
Controlled activity: recommendations for aerobic exercise taking symptoms, test results and baseline physical condition into account.
Programme goals and final consultation
The goals of the course are to assess vascular risk, coordinate treatment and select safe everyday activity. The course does not involve “cleaning the blood vessels” and does not guarantee that the disease will stop progressing during the stay.
At the final consultation, you receive an explanation of the results, a coordinated treatment regimen, recommendations on nutrition and activity, and timing for further monitoring. Supportive methods are discussed separately from necessary medication treatment.
