Accurate diagnostics — the foundation of an individual health pathway

Good healthcare begins with accurate facts. At CALENDULA, diagnostics is not a standardised set of tests, but a considered pathway from the first conversation with a doctor to a clear personalised strategy. We combine clinical assessment, laboratory tests and modern diagnostic investigations to identify important risk factors and define the next steps without testing for the sake of testing.

At the initial consultation, the doctor reviews your complaints, health history, family history, current medications and existing results. A structured diagnostic pathway is then developed according to your age, condition and the clinical question.

Technologies that support informed decisions

Video endoscopy — Olympus EVIS EXERA III

HDTV imaging helps the doctor examine the mucous membrane in detail. Narrow-band imaging (NBI) and Dual Focus allow closer assessment of suspicious areas and, where necessary, selection of sites for targeted biopsy. The doctor determines the type of examination and the scope of any additional procedures.

Ultrasound diagnostics — Samsung HS40

This versatile ultrasound system is used to examine the abdominal organs, thyroid gland, pelvis, soft tissues, joints and muscles, depending on medical indications and the transducers available.

Doppler ultrasound helps assess the direction and characteristics of blood flow in vessels. Echocardiography allows assessment of heart chamber size, valves, myocardial contractility and blood-flow parameters. The exact scope of the examination is determined by the clinical question.

Segmental body composition analysis — InBody 270S

Bioimpedance analysis assesses muscle and fat mass, water distribution, visceral fat and phase angle. These data help the doctor fine-tune nutrition and physical activity, monitor recovery and assess the possible risk of age-related loss of muscle mass. The test does not replace clinical diagnosis of sarcopenia.

Ultrasound bone screening — Sonost 3000

The heel bone is assessed without X-ray radiation and the test is used for preliminary evaluation of bone health and osteoporosis risk. If an increased risk is identified, the doctor may recommend additional DXA assessment.

Cardiac diagnostics

ECG records the electrical activity of the heart and can identify rhythm disturbances and other changes requiring medical interpretation. Ergometry and treadmill testing assess the heart under controlled exercise and, where indicated, help evaluate exercise tolerance, symptoms, possible ischaemic changes or arrhythmias. Results are taken into account when selecting safe physical activity.

Visual skin assessment — Observ 320

Several LED illumination modes help visualise skin texture, pigmentation, redness and visible signs of reduced firmness. Images are used to personalise care and compare changes “before and after”. The assessment complements, but does not replace, examination by a dermatologist.

Laboratory and genetic investigations

Laboratory diagnostics. Depending on the individual medical question, tests may include general clinical and biochemical analyses, coagulation studies, lipid profile, liver and kidney function, inflammatory markers, glucose, HbA1c, insulin and hormone tests. Tumour markers are used only for specific indications and are not used as a universal test for the presence of cancer.

Genetic investigations. Taking personal and family history into account, the doctor may consider tests for hereditary cardiovascular and cancer risks, pharmacogenetics, nutrigenetics and metabolic characteristics. A result indicates probability or predisposition; it does not mean that a disease will necessarily develop. Test selection and interpretation are carried out by the relevant specialist.

Assessment of age-related changes

A comprehensive assessment may include body composition, metabolic and hormonal profiles, possible deficiencies, bone and skin health and cardiovascular risk factors. There is no single test that determines “biological age” on its own: the doctor considers several indicators together and interprets them in the context of your health.

Diagnostic consultation — attention to what matters

  • The doctor listens carefully to your concerns and reviews your medical documents.
  • A logical investigation plan is developed without unnecessary procedures or repetition.
  • Results are explained in clear, accessible language.
  • A structured plan for follow-up, treatment or prevention is proposed for the clinic and for home.

Diagnostics can be a stand-alone service or the first stage of a CALENDULA programme. The final scope of investigations is determined after consultation, taking indications and contraindications into account.
