About this service

Medical care for respiratory complaints and personalised rehabilitation

Respiratory Health is an individual service in which pulmonology care and functional diagnostics are combined with rehabilitation. Suitable methods from traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda may complement the medical plan.

For persistent cough, chronic respiratory disease and complaints after COVID-19, it is important to clarify the causes of symptoms and tolerance of activity. The doctor assesses the need for treatment and rehabilitation, helps coordinate prescriptions and determines further follow-up.

Who this service is for

  • For frequent and recurrent infections: repeated bronchitis, sinusitis, laryngotracheitis, incomplete recovery after acute respiratory infections, influenza or pneumonia.
  • For bronchial asthma, COPD, allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis — to assess disease control, prevent exacerbations and select rehabilitation. Reducing the number of medicines is not a required goal of the course.
  • For persistent cough and respiratory discomfort: cough lasting more than 3–4 weeks, bronchial hyperreactivity, a feeling of incomplete inhalation or spasm.
  • For post-COVID syndrome (Long COVID): post-infectious asthenia, muscle weakness, respiratory dysautonomia, autonomic instability, “brain fog” and reduced exercise tolerance.
  • For snoring, night-time awakenings, daytime sleepiness and suspected sleep apnoea — to determine the necessary assessment. These symptoms alone do not confirm low oxygen levels.

Medical assessment and strategy

Lung function assessment: spirometry with bronchodilator testing, peak flow measurement, and pulse oximetry at rest and during activity (6-minute walk test).

Laboratory screening for markers of systemic inflammation, hidden anaemia, deficiencies and metabolic status.

Assessment of accompanying causes: ENT conditions, gastro-oesophageal reflux — movement of stomach contents into the oesophagus — and cardiovascular disorders.

Assessment according to TCM and Ayurvedic traditions is used to select supportive practices. It does not replace measurement of respiratory function or medical investigations.

Individual programme

Optimisation and monitoring of essential pharmacotherapy (inhalation protocols, ENT management and treatment of accompanying conditions) under the supervision of relevant specialists.

Safety: before restorative procedures, the doctor checks for any condition requiring urgent or specialist care. Severe shortness of breath, chest pain or loss of consciousness require urgent medical attention.

Supportive traditional methods

Traditional methods may be considered as additional support for wellbeing. They do not replace essential therapy, and the doctor discusses their suitability and expected benefit separately.

Acupuncture and reflexotherapy: possible additional methods for tension and wellbeing in the absence of contraindications; they do not replace treatment for bronchospasm.

Individual phytotherapy: herbal blends and extracts are selected after checking contraindications, allergies and compatibility with medicines. The effect depends on the specific formulation; restoration of lung tissue is not promised.

Ayurvedic procedures: suitable oil techniques, gentle warming and nutritional support may be included in a recovery plan, taking tolerance of heat, smells and plant ingredients into account.

Breathing and movement: gentle qigong, pranayama and adapted yoga for comfortable chest mobility and learning breathing practices. Methods and intensity are selected individually.

Rehabilitation and tolerance of activity

Breathing training: where indicated, training in a calmer breathing rhythm, diaphragmatic breathing and respiratory muscle training. The technique is selected by a specialist rather than prescribed identically to everyone.

Pacing — distributing activity and rest within individual tolerance. If symptoms worsen after exertion, the plan is reviewed; activity is not automatically increased.

Nutrition and metabolism

A personalised diet with an anti-inflammatory profile.

Correction of confirmed vitamin and micronutrient deficiencies where indicated. Supplements and nutrition are coordinated with the main treatment.

Coordination of prescribed measures

Ayurveda and TCM complement, but do not replace, medical treatment. Herbal formulations and procedures are selected with current medicines, coexisting diseases and individual tolerance in mind.

Programme goals and final consultation

At the final consultation, the doctor explains the test results and assesses symptoms and tolerance of activity. You receive a coordinated plan for treatment, breathing practices, nutrition and further follow-up. The content and duration of the course are determined individually; treatment of a chronic condition may continue after departure.
