Plasma therapy (Patelet Rich Plasma, PRP) is a modern field of regenerative medicine, which is the injection of platelet-rich patient's blood plasma. Platelets are blood cells, small platelets responsible for clotting blood. They are involved in the repair of damaged tissue and wound healing due to increased cell regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma contains 3-5 times more growth factors, biologically active proteins, than whole blood.
Plasma therapy is used in various branches of medicine - cosmetology, orthopaedics and neurology. At the CALENDULA clinic it is prescribed to patients suffering from musculoskeletal disorders.
Medical indications for PRP:
osteoporosis
osteoarthritis and osteoarthrosis
gout
hernia, protrusion
polyneuropathy
periarthritis
damage to ligaments and tendons
rehabilitation after injuries and operations
How does it work?
Platelets secrete growth factors (natural body proteins that stimulate growth, proliferation and differentiation of cells), thereby stimulating cell division and the growth of damaged cells. The therapeutic effect occurs when the concentration of platelets in the plasma increases and reaches 1 million/μl (normal concentrations are 150,000/μl and 350,000/μl).
The procedure is carried out as follows: a blood sample is taken from a patient's vein and placed in a centrifuge. The blood is treated in a special mode to release the platelet-saturated autoplasma. The resulting product is injected into the soft tissues surrounding the joint, the spinal column or directly into the joint. The medicine takes effect immediately.
The procedure is safe because the plasma contains the patient's blood components. This eliminates allergic reactions and other side effects. The number and frequency of these procedures is determined by the doctor.
