Plasma therapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma, PRP) is a modern field of regenerative medicine that involves treatment using the patient’s own blood enriched with platelets; its essence is that platelets play a role in the regeneration and healing of damaged tissues. Platelet-rich plasma contains 3–5 times more growth factors and biologically active proteins than whole blood.
Main areas of application of PRP therapy:
Joint degeneration: knee, shoulder, hip, and small joint complaints
aesthetic treatments, rejuvenation of the skin of the face, neck and décolleté
treatment of hair loss
adjunct treatment of eye injuries
The course of treatment
A blood sample is taken from the patient’s vein and then centrifuged. This platelet-rich blood plasma is injected directly into the affected areas. This helps reduce inflammation and promotes tissue regeneration.
PRP therapy is considered a natural treatment.
The procedure is safe because the plasma contains components of the patient’s own blood. This eliminates allergic reactions and other side effects. The effect of the treatment develops slowly over several weeks. The frequency of the treatment is determined by the physician.
