Acupuncture is one of the best-known and oldest therapeutic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with a history of more than three thousand years. Its basic principle is that energy, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”), flows through the body, and its balance is essential for maintaining health. If this energy network—running through the meridians—becomes blocked or its balance is disturbed, various physical and mental problems may occur.
The principle of acupuncture is
Acupuncture involves the therapist inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body that are connected to various organs and energetic pathways. The goal is to restore the free flow of Qi, release blockages, and utilize the body’s natural self-healing processes. As the Hungarian saying goes: “A healthy soul makes for a healthy body.” Acupuncture aims to restore this harmony on both a physical and mental level.
What problems can acupuncture be effective for?
Musculoskeletal complaints – such as back, lower back or joint pain, muscle tension, and sports injuries.
Stress and sleep disorders – it helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote restful sleep.
Digestive problems – it can also be used for stomach complaints, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea.
Hormonal imbalances – for example menstrual disorders and relief of menopausal symptoms.
Chronic conditions – complementary treatment for headaches, migraines, allergic symptoms, asthma, or other long-standing complaints.
The treatment process and safety
Acupuncture treatment is always personalized: the therapist conducts a detailed consultation and then selects the appropriate points for treatment accordingly. During the procedure, only single-use, sterile needles are used, so the risk of infection is minimal. The procedure is generally painless; most patients only experience a mild tingling or warm sensation.
According to Hungarian folk wisdom: “Prevention is better than cure.” Acupuncture is particularly suitable for prevention as well, helping to maintain the balance of physical and mental health.
Holistic approach, long-term results
Acupuncture therapy does not only treat symptoms but also aims to identify and eliminate the underlying causes. This complex, holistic approach can help maintain the patient’s health in the long term and improve their quality of life. Acupuncture can therefore be used as a complement to modern medicine or on its own, always tailored to the individual needs of the patient.
