The digestive system is one of the most important parts of the body, as it processes and utilizes the nutrients necessary for its healthy functioning. If our digestive system does not work properly, the body is also unable to properly build or regenerate itself. Digestive problems can have various causes, ranging from an unbalanced diet to infections.
The exact causes of Crohn’s disease are still not known in medicine today—several predisposing factors are believed to act together. Crohn’s disease is associated with severe symptoms that affect the proper functioning of the digestive system. These include stomach ulcers, abdominal cramps, bloody stools, and reduced appetite.
The treatment of Crohn’s disease is always personalized depending on the symptoms the patient is experiencing. In the treatment of Crohn’s disease, methods of modern Western medicine and ancient Eastern medicine are combined: anti-inflammatory medications help reduce inflammation in the digestive system. Consuming the right quantity and quality of nutrients is also essential for the balanced functioning of the digestive system.
Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment is also recommended, during which the body is cleansed of harmful substances, thereby improving immune function and digestive processes. In addition, as complementary therapies, herbal packs and treatments can support the absorption of active compounds found in various medicinal herbs.
Since the nerves are directly connected to the stomach, stress relief and calming massages are also beneficial in the treatment of Crohn’s disease.
Gastric and duodenal ulcers most commonly develop as a result of infection with the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, but they can also occur as a side effect of medications (e.g., painkillers), as well as due to severe stress.
In case of bacterial infection, successful treatment of gastric ulcers primarily requires antibiotics, reducing stomach acid production, and protecting the gastric mucosa with coating agents.
At Calendula Clinic, the treatment of gastric ulcers consists of several elements: a stomach-friendly diet, cleansing Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment, and relaxation techniques. Panchakarma helps remove toxins from the body and digestive system, while relaxation techniques reduce stress and help eliminate stress-related gastric complaints.
Inflammation of the pancreas can occur in both acute and chronic forms. In acute cases, sudden and severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever are typical. In chronic inflammation, the symptoms are milder but persistent, and may include digestive disorders, weight loss, and fatty stools. Pancreatitis is most commonly caused by excessive alcohol consumption, fatty and spicy foods typical of Hungarian cuisine, smoking, and gallstones.
Pancreatitis requires intensive treatment, including fluid and nutrient replacement, pain relief, and eliminating the underlying cause of inflammation. After 2–3 days of a strict diet, the inflammation subsides, however, returning to a normal diet must be gradual. In the treatment of pancreatitis, natural anti-inflammatory approaches play an important role, as well as calming Panchakarma therapy that supports the body’s regeneration. In the later phase, learning meditation and yoga practices is also recommended to reduce stress.
Irritable bowel syndrome covers a wide range of digestive symptoms, and its causes can also be diverse. Treatment of IBS is primarily based on dietary changes, during which foods that trigger symptoms are eliminated, fiber intake is increased, and caffeine and alcohol are avoided. In the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, restoring the gut microbiome is especially important through the consumption of probiotics and prebiotics that support them.
Nervousness and anxiety often manifest as digestive complaints, so relaxation and calming practices, therapeutic massages, and yoga can all have a healing effect on the condition. Physiotherapy and certain exercises can also help reduce stress and stimulate digestion.
In line with the methods of ancient Eastern medicine, personalized herbal-based dietary supplements (especially Triphala) and herbal massages are also an essential part of the treatment program for irritable bowel syndrome.
At Calendula Clinic, various digestive complaints of different origins can be treated with good chances of recovery, such as heartburn, reflux, bloating, irregular bowel movements, and constipation. The treatment of digestive problems focuses simultaneously on cleansing the body and improving the function of the digestive system, all alongside gentle, supportive nutrition.
As the content and duration of the treatment program designed for digestive problems are personalized, its price also varies. Please contact our staff by phone or in writing to arrange an appointment.
The program includes three daily meals provided by the clinic’s restaurant, with breakfast available from 8 a.m. Before that, guests may participate in a morning yoga session starting at 7:30 a.m. After breakfast, medical consultations begin at 9 a.m., followed by 90-minute therapeutic treatments in the morning.
Lunch is available from midday, and 60-minute therapies start from 2 p.m. Lectures and additional movement therapies are also scheduled during the afternoon. At Calendula Clinic, a therapeutic day involves approximately 7–8 hours of activities for our patients.
We recommend that you book three to four weeks in advance. For end-of-year and early season bookings, we recommend sending your reservation request at least two months in advance. However, if you would like to come to our clinic at any time, please contact our staff, because there can be a vacancy at any time, which can be favourable for a sudden idea-driven booking.
It is also possible to use a treatment program at our clinic without a prior consultation, however, we usually recommend that our Hungarian patients attend a preliminary medical consultation. If you already have a booking at our clinic but have not yet taken part in a consultation, you can discuss your treatment needs with our doctors on the day of arrival during your first visit, and together they can decide on the appropriate therapy based on your health condition.
The digestive system requires regular maintenance and cleansing. At our clinic, the Calendula Method has already been proven effective in dozens of recovered patients with digestive system problems.
