The digestive system is one of the most important parts of the body, as this is where the nutrients necessary for the healthy functioning of our body are processed and utilized. If our digestive system is not functioning well, our body cannot properly build itself up or regenerate. Digestive problems can have various causes, ranging from an unbalanced diet to infections.

What symptoms are associated with digestive problems?

What digestive system diseases can be treated at Calendula Clinic?

The exact causes of Crohn’s disease are still not fully understood by modern medicine – it is believed to involve several contributing factors. Crohn’s disease comes with serious symptoms that affect the proper functioning of the digestive system. These include stomach ulcers, abdominal cramps, bloody stools, and reduced appetite.

How is Crohn’s disease treated?

The treatment of Crohn’s disease is always personalized, depending on the symptoms the patient is experiencing. The treatment combines methods from both modern Western and ancient Eastern medicine: anti-inflammatory medications help reduce the inflammation in the digestive system. Consuming the right amount and quality of nutrients is also necessary for the balanced functioning of the digestive system.

Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy is also recommended, during which the body is cleansed of harmful substances, improving immune function and digestive processes. Additionally, herbal poultices and treatments can support the absorption of the active ingredients found in certain herbs.

Since the nerves are directly connected to the stomach, stress relief and soothing massages are also beneficial in the treatment of Crohn’s disease.

Stomach and Duodenal Ulcer Treatment

Stomach and duodenal ulcers most commonly develop due to a Helicobacter pylori bacterial infection, but they can also result from the side effects of medications (such as painkillers) or severe stress.

In the case of a bacterial infection, successful treatment of the stomach ulcer requires the use of antibiotics, reducing stomach acid production, and protecting the stomach lining with film-forming agents.

How is stomach ulcer treatment carried out?

At Calendula Clinic, the treatment of stomach ulcers consists of several elements: a stomach-friendly diet, detoxifying Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy, and relaxation techniques. Panchakarma helps cleanse the body and digestive system of toxins, while relaxation techniques are stress-reducing, addressing the psychological aspects of stomach issues.

Pancreatitis can occur in either acute or chronic form. In acute cases, it is characterized by sudden, severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. In chronic inflammation, the symptoms may be milder but persistent, and digestive disorders, weight loss, and fatty stools can occur. Pancreatitis is most often caused by excessive alcohol consumption, the rich and spicy foods typical of Hungarian cuisine, smoking, and gallstones.

How can pancreatitis be treated?

Pancreatitis requires intensive treatment, with an emphasis on fluid and nutrient replenishment, pain relief, and eliminating the underlying causes of the inflammation. After 2-3 days of strict dieting, the inflammation will subside, and normal eating can be gradually resumed. In the treatment of pancreatitis, natural anti-inflammatory measures, soothing Panchakarma therapy that supports the body’s regeneration, and later meditation and yoga practices for stress reduction play key roles.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) encompasses a wide range of digestive symptoms, and its causes can be diverse. The treatment of IBS primarily involves dietary changes, during which foods that trigger symptoms are eliminated, fiber intake is increased, and caffeine and alcohol are avoided. Restoring the stomach microbiome is a crucial aspect of IBS treatment, achieved through the consumption of probiotics and prebiotics that nourish them.

Nervousness and anxiety often manifest as digestive complaints, so relaxation and calming practices, therapeutic massages, and yoga can all have healing effects on the condition. Physical therapy and certain exercises can also aid in stress reduction and stimulate digestion.

In line with ancient Eastern medicine practices, personalized herbal-based dietary supplements (primarily Triphala) and herbal massages should also be included in the treatment program for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

At the Calendula Clinic, digestive complaints of various origins, such as heartburn, reflux, bloating, irregular bowel movements, and constipation, can be effectively treated. The treatment of digestive issues is approached through both cleansing the body and enhancing the functioning of the digestive system— all while maintaining a gentle diet.
