The beginnings

Above all, our story is a real story of healing patients from all over the world. It is also a clear example of how friendship, dedication and a sincere desire to help can guarantee great results.

In June 1991 we registered our company in Hungary under the name CALENDULA. At that time, we only had the idea of learning phytotherapy, massage techniques, and with the perspective of creating a clinic where we would integrate different health systems into the protocol of healing.
Knowledge is an essential requirement for the development of any institution, and in the health system it is particularly important as it is also a huge responsibility.

In fact, we have set up a school where we teach the specifics of a healthy lifestyle - energy practices, the basics of physiotherapy, vegetarian systems of nutrition. Our students became obsessed students who were driven by the desire to heal. Some of them had no medical training at all at the beginning, but later they learned the mysteries of anatomy, physiology and phytotherapy, and then they obtained specialised diplomas and became close friends and allies. Thanks to Pálma Bede - director of Calendula Bt., Ilona Kollár - founder of the phytolaboratory - and other colleagues, the neurology clinic has grown into a clinic.

Every new patient is a new challenge for us. It is our job: to find the solution that brings a complete cure!

In our search, we also turned to the experiences of healers of the past. Hippocrates, Galen, Avicenna and Charaka have left us a great legacy for the development of medicine. Drawing on our own experience and practice, we have taken into account the holistic approach of the doctors of past centuries.

After studying Avicenna's „The Canon of Medicine”, Huangdi Nei Jing's „The Inner Voice of the Yellow Emperor”, Ayurvedic physician Charaka's „Charaka Samhita”. We met many experts and teachers from many countries who not only gave us valuable knowledge but also showed us the way to Ayurveda.

The work we have invested in has revealed the most ancient medical science and philosophical approach. For several years we travelled to India to study and exchange experiences until we opened our first medical centre in Hungary, where Ayurvedic therapy is implemented by professionals from the birthplace of Ayurveda, the Indian state of Kerala.

In order to produce phyto preparations based on the ancient treatises, we travelled to the Middle East to find medicinal plants. There we found what we were looking for - we brought home some 800 species of medicinal plants. We used them to make medicinal preparations, so that we could experience first-hand the vital importance of phytoceuticals. The results were breathtaking. From that moment on, we counted the activities of our own phyto laboratory, Calendula Pharma Co., where we produce more than 2500 phyto preparations to date.

The departure

Initially, the CALENDULA Clinic specialised in musculoskeletal treatment - massage, reflexology and the use of phytotherapy medication. After the Panchakarma (body cleansing) supplemented with Ayurvedic treatments, we observed not only an improvement in the condition of the spine, joints and muscles, but also an improvement in other parameters.

Patients who suffered from metabolic disorders (e.g. obesity, high sugar and cholesterol levels) had their metabolic balance restored, weight normalised, blood rheological indicators improved, etc.

We have now expanded to treat metabolic, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, allergies, chronic conditions, neuroendocrine, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases (see other pages on this website for more information).

To date

The clinic was originally built on the basis of an ashram at the physical and mental level, where everyone understands the cause of their illness and acquires the skills of healthy living and thinking.

Once again we have witnessed what is called a miracle, a miracle of healing, a miracle of birth, a miracle of help. This is due to a deep faith, the patronage of spiritual guides and the trust of patients.

Until 2015, our treatment centre was able to responsibly treat up to 20 patients at a time. Our current capacity is more than double that, at 45 patients. In Siófok, we provide treatment in three separate buildings. These are of different comfort levels: the classic Ayurvedic clinic, the hotel building of the new clinic and the ECO House section. In addition, we have the CALENDULA outpatient clinic in Budapest.

With the support of the European Union and with the help of our close friends, in 2012 we received substantial funding to build our new four-star medical centre. A few years later, in 2018, the four-star status of our medical hotel was confirmed by Hotel Stars.

It is to be noted that the new building has been constructed using environmental technologies and materials, the structure of the building has been designed according to Vastu Shastra, the ancient Vedic science of design and construction, in harmony with nature.

Every day, we continue our studies, introducing innovations in medicine, combining them with the results of alternative medical systems and developing our own treatments. Our experts give consultations and lectures in different European countries, participate in educational projects and international conferences. And our story continues...
