The Beginning

Our story is primarily the true story of healing patients who came from all corners of the Earth.
It is also a clear example of how friendship, devoted professionalism, and a sincere desire to help can guarantee great results.

In June 1991, we registered our company under the name CALENDULA in Hungary. At that time, we only had ideas about learning phytotherapy, massage techniques, and we envisioned establishing our clinic, where we would integrate various health systems into the healing protocol.
Knowledge is an essential requirement for the development of any institution, and in the field of healing, it is especially important as it carries a great responsibility.

In fact, we founded a school where we teach the characteristics of a healthy lifestyle — energy techniques, the basics of physiotherapy, and vegetarian dietary systems. Our students became passionate learners, driven by the desire to heal. Some of them had no healthcare qualifications initially, but later they mastered the secrets of anatomy, physiology, and phytotherapy, and earned special diplomas. They became close friends and allies. All of this is thanks to Pálma Bede — the director of Calendula Bt., Ilona Kollár — the founder of the phytolaboratory, and the other colleagues whose unity helped transform our neurological office into a clinic.

Searching for the Path

Every new patient presents a new challenge for us. Our task is to search for and find the solution that brings complete healing!

In our search, we also turned to the experiences of the healers of the past. Medicine has inherited a vast legacy from Hippocrates, Galen, Avicenna, and Charaka. With our own experience and practice, we considered the holistic approach of the doctors from the past centuries.

After studying Avicenna’s „The Canon of Medicine”, the Huangdi Nei Jing „The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic”, and the Ayurvedic physician Charaka’s „Charaka Samhita”, we became acquainted with many experts and teachers from various countries, who not only shared valuable knowledge with us but also showed us the way, eventually leading us to Ayurveda.

As a result of our invested efforts, the oldest medical science and philosophical approach revealed itself to us. We traveled to India for many years for learning and experience exchange, until we opened our medical center in Hungary, where Ayurvedic therapies are implemented by professionals from the Indian state of Kerala, the birthplace of Ayurveda.

In order to create herbal preparations based on the ancient teachings, we traveled to the Middle East for herbs. There, we found what we were looking for — we brought home about 800 types of medicinal plants. From these, we created therapeutic preparations, and through our own experiences, we were able to confirm the vital importance of herbal preparations. The results were breathtaking. This moment marks the beginning of our phytolaboratory, Calendula Pharma Co., where we continue to produce over 2,500 herbal preparations to this day.

The Start

Initially, the CALENDULA Clinic specialized in the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, utilizing massage, reflexology, and the medicinal application of phytotherapy. After Ayurvedic treatments, complemented by Panchakarma (body purification), we observed improvements not only in the condition of the spine, joints, and muscles, but also in other parameters.

For patients suffering from metabolic disorders (such as obesity, high blood sugar, and cholesterol levels), we saw the restoration of metabolic balance, normalization of weight, and improvements in the rheological indicators of their blood, among other things.

Our activities have now expanded so much that we treat a wide range of conditions, including metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal issues, gastrointestinal tract conditions, allergies, chronic conditions, neuroendocrine diseases, neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory conditions (more details can be found on other pages of the website).

To This Day

The clinic was originally established based on an ashram model, focused on both physical and mental healing, where everyone understands the root cause of their illness and acquires the skills for a healthy lifestyle and mindset.

We have once again witnessed what is often referred to as a miracle — the miracle of healing, the miracle of birth, and the miracle of help. The reason for this is deep faith, the guidance of spiritual mentors, and the trust of the patients.

Until 2015, our healing center could responsibly care for a maximum of 20 patients at a time. Our current capacity is more than double that number, with space for 45 patients. We now provide treatments in three separate buildings in Siófok: the classical Ayurvedic clinic, the new clinic hotel building, and the ECO house section. Additionally, we have our CALENDULA outpatient clinic in Budapest.

With the support of the European Union and the help of close friends, in 2012, we received significant financial resources to build our new four-star healing center. A few years later, in 2018, our health hotel’s four-star status was confirmed by Hotel Stars.

It is worth noting that the new building was constructed using environmental technologies and materials, and its structure was designed according to the principles of Vastu Shastra, the ancient Vedic science of design and construction, in harmony with nature.

Every day, we continue our studies, introduce innovations in the field of medicine, combine them with the results of alternative medical systems, and develop our own treatment methods. Our specialists hold consultations and lectures in various European countries, participate in educational projects, and attend international conferences. And our story continues…
