Therapeutic blocks are an injection method for pain relief, as well as other painful manifestations of neuralgic disorders. The analgesic effect is short-lived, but overall well-being improves for a long time by eliminating muscle spasm and accompanying symptoms. Blocks are carried out in courses from 2 to 15 injections, with a break of 3-4 days.

Indications for therapeutic block:

  • • neck pain and backache
  • • osteochondrosis
  • • neuralgia
  • • pain syndrome with slipped disc
  • • rheumatic disease
  • • osteoarthrosis
  • • stump neuralgia
  • • Ménière’s disease
  • • neuropathy
  • • pain after amputation
  • • soreness and spasticity after a stroke
  • • radiculitis;
  • • blind headache
  • • sciatica
  • • repetitive stress injury

How does it work?

Medical block provides three-phase pain relief. At first, due to irritation of the pain receptors by the needle, the pain intensifies. Then it subsides to a minimum level. In the third phase, a therapeutic effect is achieved: the pain goes away. Depending on the pain syndrome, the following drug-preventive blocks are performed in the next ways:

Local: give an injection into the affected area or inflammation. They are divided into periarticular (in the tissue near the joints) and perineural (in the nerve channels) types;

Segmental: injections in various segments of the vertebral column. Each spinal nerve and segment of the vertebral column corresponds to a dermatome (an area of the skin, connective tissue), sclerotome (an area of the skeletal system), myotome (part of the muscle system). By introducing the medical preparation intradermally into a dermatome, you can affect the corresponding area of the vertebral column and internal organ;

Vertebral: the anaesthetic is intradermally injected for back pain, between the spinous vertebral processes to a depth of 2-4 cm into the area of the vertebral body;

Blocks of the spine: severe pain in the vertebral column is associated with pinching of the spinal nerves. The block acts directionally and normalizes well-being, temporarily disabling the nerve conduction of certain fibres. For this, local anesthetics are used that block cell conduction by inhibiting voltage-dependent sodium passages. Spinal blocks are cervical, thoracic, thoraco-lumbar, sacro-lumbar, coccygeal, paravertebral;

Heel spur blocksare used to relieve inflammation of the plantar fascia. Injection is made in the centre of the prominent heel. The effect is instant;

Joint blocks are used for small and large joints, when pain is a consequence of a degenerative process or inflammation. Anaesthetic is injected into the joint capsule. After that, the pain is completely eliminated. The effect occurs in a few minutes; its duration depends on the degree of joint damage (an average of 21 days). Then repeated blocks are made. Sometimes injections are made not into the joint, but into the muscle. It is necessary to reduce the spasm that causes pain. Paravertebral blocks are also in this group. Using this technology, the following joints are treated: ankle, hip, wrist, knee, shoulder, and elbow;

Nerve blocks: anaesthetic is injected into the area, along which the peripheral nerve goes. This eliminates pain, vascular spasm, muscle tension, inflammation and swelling. Indications: neuritis, neuralgia, oncology, articular pathology, muscle-tonic and tunnel syndromes. The analgesic effect occurs after a few minutes and lasts up to 21 days. Repeated procedures may be performed.
Novocaine, Lidocainum, Marcain, etc. are used for medical blocks.

Result:

  • • quick elimination of pain and inflammation
  • • improvement of overall health and mobility
