Zalmanov baths are a type of balneotherapy with the use of special turpentine emulsions. This method is also called capillary therapy; its founder is Professor Zalmanov. The essence of such baths is to restore capillary blood flow, which helps to restore metabolic processes in general.

Medical indications for turpentine baths:

  • • cardiovascular diseases, disturbed circulation
  • • diseases of the digestive system
  • • diseases of the respiratory system
  • • endocrine diseases
  • • nervous system disorder
  • • diseases of the urinary system
  • • ENT diseases
  • • dermal diseases
  • • infectious diseases
  • • pathology of the musculoskeletal system
  • • systemic diseases of the connective tissue.

    How does it work?

In the process of life, atherosclerotic fragments are deposited in the capillaries: the blood flow slows down, and in some areas it stops. Cells, not receiving nutrition and oxygen, die. Many dead cells contribute to the drying out of the capillaries and, accordingly, the aging process. Baths also increase blood flow, carry out “gymnastics” of the capillaries, accelerate metabolic processes in the body as a whole and contribute to the removal of toxins and waste.

For the procedure, two types of emulsion are used: white and yellow.

White emulsion promotes the opening of capillaries, increases blood pressure, and helps to eliminate toxins from capillaries and bone-cartilage tissue.

Yellow – emulsion helps to dissolve pathological deposits in the articular cavities, adipose tissue, as well as in the walls of blood vessels, tendons, and cartilage by enhancing internal warming and expanding the capillary system; it also lowers blood pressure. The doctor prescribes the type of bath, depending on the kind of blood pressure of the patient. Both baths have an analgesic effect.

Therapy is as follows: depending on the indications, the therapist prepares an emulsion solution and adds it to the bath filled with water (36 °C). After the patient immerged into the water, its temperature is gradually increased to 39-40 °C. The duration of bathing is 15-20 minutes. At the end of this procedure, the patient is dubbed with a sheet and wrapped in a blanket to maintain heat for 30 minutes. At this time, perspiration and a slight burning sensation continue (the effect of turpentine).

At the CALENDULA Clinic, Zalmanov baths are alternated with mineral-alkaline and phyto-baths to restore metabolic balance and to influence the central nervous system.

    Result:
  • • the metabolism in tissues improves, tissue hypoxia is eliminated, its regeneration is accelerated,
  • • swelling disappears,
  • • the body is freed from infections,
  • • the body is physically rejuvenated,
  • • body volumes are reduced (weight-loss effect),
  • • activity and efficiency increase,
  • • skin turgor improves.
