Musculoskeletal disorders affect a large proportion of the population, but few of them are treated in a targeted way to eliminate the cause of the problem. Therefore, the Calendula Clinic, together with its specialists, physiotherapists and doctors, has developed a treatment that targets the root cause of musculoskeletal problems. The clinic has a high success rate in the treatment of arthritis, herniated discs, rheumatoid arthritis and also bursitis.
Arthritis and damaged discs can make everyday life very difficult. Mobility is reduced, everyday tasks become challenging and often impossible without outside help. Therefore, proper treatment of musculoskeletal disorders should not be delayed, as they can easily worsen.
Treatment at the Calendula Clinic is for you if:
✔ suffer from arthritis, osteoarthritis or bone disease;
✔ difficult to move, challenging to carry out everyday tasks;
✔ have been treated previously but have not had relief or a return of symptoms;
✔ surgical treatment has been recommended, but you believe in natural healing;
At the Calendula Clinic we treat the root cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. In this way, we ensure that our patients experience freedom of movement after treatment. The success of the Calendula Method is based on thousands of years of proven treatment methods. It combines modern Western medicine technology with traditional Chinese and Eastern medicine treatments. With a healthy body and a healthy mind, the clinic heals the whole person, refreshing the body and the soul.
In our clinic, we have developed a comprehensive combination of treatments that can control symptoms and their underlying causes, prevent progression, achieve long-term remission, promote bone and joint regeneration and avoid surgery.
In the clinic, we have movement therapists, physiotherapists and doctors to help patients recover, and if necessary, we can set up a treatment plan with the help of an external specialist (neurologist, orthopaedist) and monitor the success of the treatment.
Arthritis is treated with a holistic approach that includes the use of natural herbs, nutritional advice and lifestyle changes. After an in-depth analysis of the individual's constitution and disease, a personalised therapy programme is designed, including herbal remedies, Ayurvedic massages, detoxification treatments (Panchakarma) and a combination of yoga exercises.
The treatments aim to restore balance in the body, relieve the symptoms of arthritis and reduce pain and inflammation by supporting the body's natural healing processes.
Rheumatism most often starts with inflammation of the hands, and is associated with stiffness and swelling of the fingers. In the later stages of the disease, however, it spreads to other joints with severe pain. Rheumatoid arthritis is a treatable disease and cannot be cured.
Therefore, in the clinic, we focus on the development of complications and reversal of damage in rheumatism. Part of the therapy is the use of natural anti-inflammatory herbs as essential oils or by massaging them into the joint. In addition, emphasis is placed on detoxifying the body, which reduces the body's inflammation levels, thus relieving pain. A personalised diet and physiotherapy all help to maintain mobility and proper joint function.
In the case of rheumatoid arthritis, the aim is to ensure the patient's long-term well-being and to learn the right exercises to keep the disease under control.
A disc herniation (herniated disc) occurs when one or more of the discs that make up the spinal column are damaged and pull out of place. This damage can put pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots, causing pain, numbness, weakness and tingling. The pain most often radiates to the neck or lower back.
At the clinic, disc herniation involves a complex treatment programme:
✔ herbal and medicinal oil massages that penetrate the tissues and support the regeneration of the discs;
✔ detoxification treatments, which reduces inflammation and helps muscles and nerves to relax.
✔ yoga and movement therapy, which help strengthen the muscles, reducing the load on the discs and improving posture
✔ a balanced diet that supports the body's natural healing processes.
Vertebral osteonecrosis is caused by a reduction in the distance between the vertebrae, which causes the ligaments that connect them to become loose. The direct consequence is a reduction in the mobility of the spine, pain, inflammation and (neck) stiffness.
Osteonecrosis of the vertebrae is hereditary, predisposed by a sedentary lifestyle and the natural process of ageing. The most common form is cervical calcification, where pain radiates from the neck to the arms.
Osteonecrosis of the vertebrae can be accurately diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging, which also shows the condition of the discs, muscles and ligaments between the vertebrae.
Osteonecrosis of the vertebrae can be well treated with complex movement therapy, which can restore mobility to the spine and cervical spine. Patients' symptoms can be reduced by physiotherapy, as spinal yoga helps increase muscle flexibility. Pain can be reduced with herbal and oil massage. Patients suffering from osteoarthritis have reported relief and resolution of their symptoms after treatment.
Bursitis is a condition that affects most people and has a good chance of being cured with proper treatment. There are around 160 salivary glands in the human body, so most people will experience inflammation of these.
Inflammation of the sphincter usually occurs after injury, but chronic bursitis develops after long-term irritation. At the Calendula Clinic, acute bursitis can be well treated with a few days of therapy. In the case of long-term, chronic bursitis, the first step is always to find the underlying cause, after which a personalised treatment programme can be put together. In the treatment of both acute and chronic bursitis, physiotherapy, massage and wraps help to ensure a speedy and safe recovery.
After treatment, depending on the type and progression of the disease, you can expect:
✔ reduce pain and inflammation;
✔ reduced limitation of movement, improved range of motion of the joint;
✔ lighter sleep, better well-being;
✔ some symptoms of the disease are relieved or disappear completely.
Treatment varies depending on the problem, your medical condition and your needs, and is always personalised. For musculoskeletal conditions, treatment may include any of the following therapies, following the establishment of a recovery plan:
✔ ayurvedic therapies to cleanse toxins and inflammation accumulated in the body and joints;
✔ physiotherapy under the guidance of a physiotherapist to regain joint mobility;
✔ herbal and oily ayurvedic massages;
✔ acupuncture to stimulate joint regeneration and relieve pain;
✔ collagen injection for healthy joint regeneration;
✔ blockade injection to relieve pain;
✔ a personalised diet to reduce inflammation in the body;
✔ other medical therapies tailored to individual needs.
All parts of the treatment ensure that the underlying cause is eliminated, inflammation is reduced and the joints heal and regain their mobility.

As musculoskeletal conditions vary from person to person, the content and length of the programme is tailored to the individual and therefore the cost varies. Please make an appointment by phone or in writing with our staff.
The programme includes three meals a day provided by the clinic's restaurant, with breakfast available from 8am. Prior to this, there is the possibility to participate in morning yoga from 7:30 am. Following breakfast, medical rounds start at 9 am, followed by 90-minute morning therapies.
Lunch is available from noon and 60-minute sessions start from 14:00. Lectures and additional movement therapies are also scheduled during the afternoon. A therapy day at the Calendula Clinic is approximately 7-8 hours a day for our patients.
The therapeutic packages provided by Calendula Clinic include meat-free, vegetarian meals (fish and eggs are included in our meals) offered by our Ayurvedic restaurant, which are necessary for the success of the treatment programmes. Other meals can be included in the diet only on medical advice.
We recommend that you book three to four weeks in advance. For end-of-year and early season bookings, we recommend sending your reservation request at least two months in advance. However, if you would like to come to our clinic at any time, please contact our staff, because there can be a vacancy at any time, which can be favourable for a sudden idea-driven booking.
It is possible to take advantage of the musculoskeletal rehabilitation programme at our clinic without prior consultation, but we recommend that our Hungarian patients attend a prior medical consultation. If you have a reservation at our clinic, but have not yet had a consultation, you can discuss your treatment needs with our doctors on the day of your arrival, during your first visit, and they can decide together on the therapy depending on your health.
The patient informs the specialist of his/her current medical condition and illnesses at the latest during the admission medical consultation. Our experts always take into account the individual health conditions and tailor the individual elements of the musculoskeletal rehabilitation programme accordingly.
The symptoms of musculoskeletal problems can be well managed and kept under control. With appropriate therapy, serious complications can be prevented and even surgery can be avoided. Make an appointment with one of our colleagues for a medical consultation so that we can draw up a personalised treatment plan for you.
